Comic-Con 2014: Marvel Reveals The Avengers: Age of Ultron Footage

Marvel Studios is known for making a big splash at Comic-Con every year and this year was no exception. Nearly the entire cast was in attendance to talk about the highly anticipated sequel and how excited they all are to be a part of it. However, it wasn’t all talk for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. No panel would be complete without some new footage and Marvel did not disappoint.

The trailer begins with the casually dressed Avengers hanging out in Avengers Tower as they all attempt to lift Thor’s hammer. Captain America is the only one who is somewhat successful, much to Thor’s surprise. The party is suddenly interrupted by Ultron. “There’s only one path to peace: your extinction,” he declares. Our heroes all stand and Thor grabs his hammer. The trailer goes on to show a montage of action scenes, including a first look at the Hulkbuster armor in action.

The last scene shows Tony Stark standing as the other Avengers lie on the ground, looking nearly dead. Captain America’s shield is also shown broken into pieces. When the trailer ended, Robert Downey Jr. was asked how the team goes about battling a villain like Ultron, to which he replied “We have a Thanos.” Josh Brolin, who will be playing Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and several other Marvel movies, emerged with a plastic Infinity Gauntlet on his hand. RDJ offered him a purple flower, which he promptly threw in his mouth and began to chew.

As always, the Avengers cast seemed genuinely happy to be at Comic-Con and put on a great show for the fans. Marvel may not have announced their Phase 3 lineup or any Doctor Strange casting, but everyone seemed unbelievably excited nonetheless. Luckily, fans will only have to wait one, short year until Age of Ultron hits theaters.
