Saga Deluxe Edition Volume 1 HC

If you have never heard of Saga, the Eisner Award-winning comic book series from writer Brian K. Vaughn, you’re hearing about it now. This fantastic ongoing series has been praised by both fans and critics alike for its beautiful art, incredible story, meaningful themes, and its incredibly bizarre and unique universe. This is the perfect gift for the comic lover in your life (let’s face it: it’s the perfect gift for YOU).

The Science of Interstellar by Kip Thorne

Price and where to buy:

The Science of Interstellar

We here at NerdSpeak were big fans of Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster, Interstellar. However, there were certainly a lot of people who were left scratching their heads by some of the science and more fantastical elements of the film. Well, it turns out that Nolan had Kip Thorne, a respected astrophysicist, breathing down his neck the whole time the film was being written. Modern science was shown correctly and future science was made as realistic as possible. Now, Thorne has released a book detailing all of the science behind the story of Interstellar. Ranging from the basics of physics to some of the more complex ideas of quantum mechanics, The Science of Interstellar acts to demystify the mystified. Warning: you have to at least have a passing interest in science if you hope to enjoy this read. That’s why it’s the perfect gift for the movie/science nerd near you!

Green Lantern by Geoff Johns Omnibus Vol. 1

So not only can they catch up on all things Green Lantern, but your comic book lover will be engulfed in some fantastic writing and art. And if they ask where there present is on Christmas Day, well… Just show them the pre-order confirmation email. That’s just as good as the real thing. But let’s be honest, you have already pre-ordered this for yourself, haven’t you?

For the Collector

DC Comics New 52 Justice League 7-Pack Action Figure Box Set

Price and where to buy:

DC Comics New 52 Justice League 7-Pack Action Figure Box Set

Who says action figures are only for kids? This 7-pack of incredibly detailed, vibrant, colorful, and just all around awesome figures are about the most perfect replicas you could hope to find of the original New 52 incarnation of the Justice League. As these figures are replicas of the original New 52 Justice League, no, you’re not going to find Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, or Red Tornado in this set, but still, these figures would be absolutely perfect in a display case, on your desk at work, or even on the dashboard of your car, being forced to listen to you belt out “Fancy” on your drive home from the office every day.

…On second thought, please don’t do that. The JLA deserves better.

NECA’s Dark Knight Joker Action Figure

Price and where to buy:

NECA The Dark Knight – The Joker (Heath Ledger) Action Figure (1/4 Scale)

Just when you thought you owned all of the Dark Knight merchandise you ever wanted, NECA releases this bad boy. Standing at 18″, this lifelike figure bears an almost eerie resemblance to the late Heath Ledger. He also comes with plenty of badass accessories, which include a pistol, a machine gun and of course, a knife. You see, guns are too quick.

Funko POP! Dancing Groot Bobble Action Figure

Price and where to buy:

Funko POP! Marvel: Dancing Groot Bobble Action Figure

Look at it. Look at how cute it is. You’d be lying if you were a nerd like us and didn’t want this thing adorning your desk, bookshelf, bedside table, etc. Funko POP! always produces adorable yet simultaneously badass action figures, but with this baby Groot they have really outdone themselves. And to top it all off, his head actually bobbles, which is awesome. I bet girlfriends all over the world won’t even groan when this gets added to the collection. It’s just too cute not to love.

For the Gamer

MSI GS60 Ghost Laptop

Price and where to buy:

MSI Computer GS60 GHOST PRO-044;9S7-16H512-044 15.6-Inch Laptop

You probably just made a really weird scoff/ gasp sound when you saw that price. Who could blame you? After all, that is quite the hefty price tag. And sure, with that amount of money, you could build yourself one hell of desktop PC that can outperform this behemoth (and probably pay rent for a couple of months). However, there is something to be said for portability and form factor. Desktops are great, but you can’t exactly bring it with you to the in-laws house when you visit this Christmas. So what is a PC gamer to do when he or she is away from home and their hands are itching for the old mouse and keyboard? Well, they turn to this monster with its 4th generation Intel i7 processor, 1080p screen, 12 GB of RAM, 3 GB Nvidia GPU and a 128 SSD on top of its 1 TB HDD. Yeah. This baby packs a wallop. And believe it or not, it weighs in at just four pounds. So if you have some serious cash burning a hole in your pocket and are in need of the best gaming laptop around, look no further.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Price and where to buy:

Dragon Age Inquisition – PlayStation 4

It would have been really easy to pick Grand Theft Auto V here. It’s rated insanely high on Metacritic and everybody and their brother has played it. However, Grand Theft Auto V has had a full year to shine. It’s time for something new, something that feels like it was meant for the new generation of consoles. The BioWare team pulled out all the stops for this latest iteration in the Dragon Age series. The game looks great, features a huge world, and actually has pretty fantastic co-op for your friends to join you as you hack, slash and cast your way through dozens of hours of gameplay.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U

Price and where to buy:

Super Smash Bros. – Nintendo Wii U

What’s that? You don’t have a Wii U? Well, of course you don’t silly. No one really did until this game came out. But now you have absolutely no excuse not to spend an exorbitant amount of money this holiday season and buy a Wii U just to play this game. We here at NerdSpeak have sunk countless hours into Super Smash Bros. over the years and this newest iteration of the series has not disappointed. So, get some friends together, hand out controllers, and let the hatred flow through you as one friend discovers the cheapest way to win and repeatedly destroys all of you. But of course, you don’t have to have real friends to play. Hop online and let some 12-year-old kid in Toledo trounce you for a while. It’s all just so much fun you won’t even notice how bad you are losing!

Breaking Bad: The Complete Series

Price and where to buy:

Breaking Bad: The Complete Series 2014 Barrel [Blu-ray]

Prepare for the binge of a lifetime. Breaking Bad, one of the most insanely popular shows of the decade, can now be purchased in a barrel. I’m not kidding, this collection actually comes in a barrel just like the ones that Walt uses for… various purposes. Amazon Fire TV Stick

Price and where to buy:

Fire TV Stick

We live in a world where the biggest concern when a new piece of hardware is purchased is how well it will play Netflix. Seriously, in this day and age, how many new entertainment technologies can’t play Netflix? So if you are just like everyone else, never fear. The Amazon Fire TV Stick is perfect for you. It can stream Netflix and of course Amazon Prime Instant, as well as Hulu Plus, Crackle, ESPN, and HBO Go starting in 2015. But what really makes this tiny tech worth a purchase is the design. It’s tiny! The stick itself is the size of a flash drive and the remote isn’t much bigger. Just plug in the power, plug it into your TV, connect to wi-fi and you are good to go. Its tiny size makes it perfectly portable. No more overpaying for movies at hotels; just bring this puppy, pop it into the TV and you are streaming all of your shows and movies. It’s that easy. The price isn’t too shabby either.
