The Sony E3 Conference

These are the notes for Sony’s conference. Basically, the minute by minute updates for the conference. It’s a lot, so you might want to check back in later for the neater conference summary.

  • Sony is already showing some footage of Killzone: Shadow Fall’s expansion, Intercept. Four player co-op, player roles, arena-like stuff. Looks cool. Might be too late to pull people back to Shadow Fall now.
  • Sony is running late. I have to pee. I don’t have time for this.
  • Okay, time for Sony to get started!
  • Mars, astronauts… Looks cool. Indie game?
  • Ooh, a true sci-fi game. We don’t get enough of these.
  • I have no idea what this is and I’m so intrigued. That’s the voice of Peter Dinklage!
  • Oh, I am an idiot…
  • Yeah, it was Destiny. I just haven’t seen that much of the game. Boy, I feel foolish.
  • Oh well, Andrew House hits the stage.
  • PS4’s intro was a year ago! It’s hard to believe it’s been that long.
  • Play Destiny first on PS4. Beta for Destiny starts July 17th on Ps4! But wait, there’s more… Destiny first look alpha starts Thursday.
  • Sept. 9. White PS4 bundled with Destiny. 500GB PS4 white, white DS4 and PS plus.
  • More footage of the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886.
  • Dark and super creepy. The character is lighting his way with an oil lamp it seems. It looks like an old hospital he is exploring. Maybe a morgue. I dunno.
  • Wow, that was quite a freaky monster transportation. The character is getting his ass kicked by this wicked monster!
  • I can only hope that The Order plays as well as it looks.
  • Okay… So there is some weird origami thing going on. And it’s Entwined.
  • Entwined has a very interesting style. It appears to be more style over substance, but for this type of game that’s okay.
  • It’s a dual stick control game. Hard to explain. But it looks beautiful and relaxing. And it’s available right now on the Playstation Store for $9.99.
  • Ooh, a new standalone Infamous DLC from Sucker Punch. You don’t need Second Son, but you should because it’s awesome.
  • It looks like we will be playing as Fetch, the neon powered chick from Second Son. Cool. It looks great.
  • And Little Big Planet 3 just snuck on screen. Sack Boy returns! Looks like classic Little Big Planet with super upgraded graphics. New characters, tools and levels. I’m positive it will be a blast. Only monsters don’t enjoy Little Big Planet.
  • Why are developers always so bad at playing their own games? They like… built it! Come on guys…
  • There have been some problems with the mics. I don’t think we are missing anything important though.
  • They are still goofing around in Little Big Planet. Lots of puzzles. Do you love Little Big Planet? You’ll love this.
  • Little Big Planet 3 coming November.
  • And now Shuhei Yoshida is onstage.
  • He just seems to be the happiest guy. I would be too if I was an exec at Playstation right now.
  • A new IP from Miyazaki. Whoa.
  • Another dark and Victorian looking game. Yet again pretty creepy looking. Zombies? Yes, zombies everywhere. Zombie dogs too.
  • Lots of gore and violence. Makes sense since the game is title Bloodborne. Coming 2015. I’ll need to see more.
  • Another Far Cry 4 video. Welcome to Kyrat. It’s definitely beautiful. Reminds me of the vistas from Uncharted 2. Not enough of the Himalayas in games.
  • Aw yiss, motherfuckin’ wing suit.
  • I’m guessing you are playing as a mercenary, but I don’t know. You have a crossbow though!
  • The player character seems to be much more of a badass than the character in Far Cry 3. Trained killer I think.
  • And wingsuit flight! SWEEEEET!
  • The annoying monkey guy from Far Cry 3 is in this. Hurk is the name. Lots of big gun action as they take down a huge enemy compound inside of an old temple.
  • Elephant carnage! Pretty damn cool. The elephants are getting right in the middle of the fight.
  • PS4 players can invite friends to play Far Cry 4, even if the friends don’t have the game. I don’t know how this works, but hell yes!
  • Deep Silver has another zombie game of course. Dead Island 2! Very cool. Nice fun trailer. Remains to be seen if it will be better than the original.
  • Diablo 3 has added bloaters and clickers from The Last of Us. Weird.
  • A new gameplay trailer for Battlefield Hardline. I don’t mind seeing more of this game. Too bad the PSN totally screwed up my beta code. Still can’t download it. I’m a little pissed. The game looks great though!
  • PS4 has more of everything! More Destiny, more Battlefield, more Disney stuff, more indies… it goes on and on.
  • Paradox Interactive is working on… I don’t know, but this ad is hilarious. Oh and it’s Magicka 2. Not really my thing, but I’m sure some of you guys know more about this stuff than me.
  • Another Tim Schafer game. Grim Fandango. Sony exclusive. No info yet, but I’m sure it will be cool and unique.
  • PS4 exlusive debuts: BroForce, Titan Souls, Not a Hero, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, the Talos Principle…
  • Long live the indie studio!
  • Oh geez, a Suda 51 game. Probably downright nuts. It’s called Let it Die and it’s coming in 2015? What is it? I don’t know, but it’s violent, gory and weird. Neat.
  • Looks like another indie game in the vein of Journey. It’s got some of the same people involved. It’s and underwater world and it’s beautiful. Lots of color, lots of life.
  • Remember when I said I needed to pee. Yep, still do and all the water stuff isn’t helping. Damn you Abzu, you beautiful, interesting looking game.
  • Although this looks intriguing in it’s own right. We’ve seen it before and I am blanking on the name. It’s a planetary exploration game. Sci-fi heavy.
  • Wow, the space flight looks incredible. Very stylish and fluid.
  • No Man’s Sky! That’s right. It looks very… Different from anything else. Procedural universe. Infinite. Every player starts on a different planet. You really are just exploring a universe. Fascinating.
  • Well, they are showing off the VR headset a little. Project Morpheus. If you are at E3 you can demo it.
  • There is still hope for Uncharted 4 or The Last Guardian. They aren’t done yet.
  • They are discussing PSN. As long as I get to play the Hardline beta I’ll forgive the PSN.
  • To sum it up: PS4 players do lots of stuff and things.
  • Finally, a YouTube app for PS4!
  • Lots more to come for all of PS4’s broadcasting stuff. Interactive streams sound cool! You can actually affect the streamers play.
  • Fans of free to play will be happy to know at least a few more are coming soon, including Planetside 2.
  • And now Playstation Now. I’ve been waiting to hear more about this.
  • Playstation Now will be available in North America for the PS4 on July 31st. It’s an open beta. PS3 will get it soon after. If you have a DS3, you just need Sony TV to play Playstation Now games.
  • Over 300 games available during the open beta.
  • PS Vita looks to benefit the most from PS Now. It will have the largest gaming library of any mobile device. Impressive.
  • And Minecraft is coming to Vita. Cool I guess.
  • Showing off PS TV. Gives you access to a lot of PS features and games. Remote play! And it’s only $99. Not bad.
  • Looks like we are about to see gameplay from Mortal Kombat X
  • Ah, classic ultraviolent Mortal Kombat action. Jordan and I will definitely play the hell out of this.
  • The graphics look better, the fighting is super fluid and there appear to be new characters. What more can you ask for?
  • Disgusting fatalities, oh yes >:)
  • Hmm… Original programming from Sony? Interesting. And Brian Michael Bendis is involved? And he is on stage at E3. Oh my…
  • Powers is based on a graphic novel. Look it up! It’s written by Bendis.
  • It’s cool that they are doing original TV work, but it’s making me doubt that we will see Uncharted 4. Sigh…
  • Playstation Plus subscribers get top watch all of Powers and any other original content for free. That’s a nice bonus for PS+ subscribers.
  • Ratchet and Clank: The Movie? Niiiice.
  • Lots of Ratchet and Clank content next year. Gotta love Ratchet and Clank.
  • And The Last of Us Remastered is finally up on screen. Not much looks to have changed, but who cares? I don’t need much of a reason to play this game again. All DLC is included as well.
  • And the release date…. July 29, 2014
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailer time. You may have already seen this one. It showed up online last night.
  • I’m so out of the loop on MGS lore. I wish I could comment on what it is going on, but I have no idea. The graphics are great though. Yep.
  • Another game that isn’t Uncharted 4? DAMNIT. Looks like GTA V is coming to PS4 though. Yep. Fall 2014. Freakin’ sweet. Online characters will transfer to PS4.
  • Oh, this must be Arkham Knight. But you know what it isn’t? UNCHARTED 4. Seriously though, Arkham Knight looks really damn cool. You need to see it for yourself. Words won’t do it justice. The city is huge!
  • Batmobile looks fun. I hope we are free to use all of its gadgets.
  • I thought for a second the system was glitching, but the glitchiness was all part of the demo. Weird and cool. Scarecrow is creepy as hell.
  • Is it Uncharted 4? It better be. Oh god, oh god.
  • AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
  • Such graphics. Dear God. Drake looks older. Tired. Wedding ring on his finger.
  • A jungle environment. Sully is back. My hands are shaking. Mom’s spaghetti.
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. 2015.
  • And that appears to be it! A great conference with an even better end. Oh man. Thanks for tuning in. check back later for E3 conference wrap-up articles.
